Blue Summit Tutors started as one person tutoring in his living room and grew into a small team that still works the same way: real diagnosis, real reasoning, and a tutor who actually knows your kid's exam.
Our Story
Started with one student, grown by word of mouth.
Blue Summit Tutors began with Ben, our founder, tutoring one student at a time out of a combined honors degree in Math and Physics from the University of British Columbia and a genuine love of the subject. There was no funnel, no ad campaign — just one family telling another family, for years, in Vancouver.
About two years ago, that word-of-mouth practice turned into a full-time business. Ben brought on tutors who shared the same approach he'd built his reputation on, and Blue Summit Tutors became the name for something that had already been working quietly for over a decade.
Today the team is still small on purpose. Every tutor we bring on has to meet the same bar Ben holds himself to: can you help a student reason through a problem they've never seen before, not just recognize one they have.
A 5 on the AP exam comes from genuine understanding, not memorized formulas. That's the standard we hold ourselves to, and the standard we look for in every tutor we bring onto this team.
How We Work
Three things every session is built on.
Diagnose first
Before we teach anything, we find out exactly where a student's understanding breaks down — not just which topics they haven't covered.
Teach the reasoning
We'd rather a student struggle productively toward an idea than memorize a shortcut that falls apart on a question they haven't seen.
Show up consistently
Same tutor, same weekly time, real accountability — the unglamorous part of tutoring that actually moves a grade.

The right-fit guarantee
Not every student clicks with every tutor on the first try, and that's fine. If your student's first pairing isn't the right fit, we'll switch tutors once at no charge. If the second pairing isn't right either, we'll refund you. We'd rather lose a session than keep a family in a pairing that isn't working.
